ABC Scripture Cards Going to THE VIEW

view0312

WHAT do you do when a producer for The View emails you on a random Tuesday?

a)   Put your hands over your face and gasp for air

b)   Lay down in your own lap and feel lightheaded

c)    Scream for joy

d)   Hug your cousin in town from St. Thomas

e)    Feel like you’re going to vomit

f)     Thank God on the spot

g)    Have perma jaw on the ground

h)   Call your momma, your husband and text your best friends

i)     All of the above

i) All of the above.

I am not going to even play it cool right now. When ABC The View calls a teeny tiny business and says “Elisabeth Hasselbeck chose your product as one of her favorite things for an upcoming episode – would you like to be included?” – you flip out.

And, when you think about the fact that it’s God’s word on mainstream media, you really flip out. And, that a PR veteran married to a PR veteran did NOT make it happen – they just called on their own, it’s just surreal.

I was scared to tell you because “what if something falls through and I look like a giant fool. “

I started my career in PR, so I know TV and producers very well and things happen. Elisabeth could run short on time or of all the products on the stage – mine could get yanked – things happen. So, I could look like a big fool, but you’re my friends now. So, when I’m squealing. You just have to know.

It is a HUGE long story – but I’ll try to make it quick. I went to Auburn with the precious Jeannie Cunnion. We were not “tight” back in those days as she was older in the sorority ya know. I love how we all grow and reconnect post college. Thank you Facebook!

She is a friend of Elisabeth and also an author/blogger herself. Elisabeth saw my cards on her site and ordered some from me several months back. I wanted to FLIP out and tell the world. So exciting, right? My wise husband said, “Babe, just let her be a mom and a normal person. Don’t tweet the world. If she comes to you later, it’ll be so much sweeter.” Wise dude, huh?

So, months later – here we are and she did.

So, 200 scripture cards shipped off yesterday for the studio audience. We are taping on May 23. It airs on May 24. She’ll feature several of her favorite things and HOPEFULLY mine will be one that makes the cut. No guarantee.

I’m TRULY honored to just be asked, to have a chance to give something I love to many families in the audience. I prayed over them yesterday that my heart would stay focused on what matters – not me, Him. Not the excitement, but the families.

So, tune in on May 24 and I’ll of course tweet, Facebook and annoy you with photos from New York. I totally asked the producer if I could come (duh!) and they said “Sure! You might have to sit backstage if audience is full.” So, I’m truly thrilled my cards are the guest and not me because I’d really be lightheaded.

Can you guess how many friends invited themselves to come with me? Like 50. I prayed and asked WHO is the 1 friend I should take with me – and I LOVE who came to mind. I’m taking ARI, my dear friend and owner of Boy Meets Girl Creative. Did you know she is the fabulous designer behind the cards? I get way too much credit. Sure, my idea, my vision and tons of my work – but designers  never get enough credit. So excited the Lord prompted me to honor her in this way. She deserves it.

THANK YOU to my “stuffing crew” who came to the rush for the 200. To Jeannie. To Elisabeth. And so many more.
To God, be the Glory.
And, yes, I did ask the show permission to tell you guys about it ahead of time.

    1. hey esther. thanks so much! designers are awesome and make so many people look great.

  1. How exciting for you! Truth be told, I’ve stopped watching The View for many reasons (Elisabeth was actually pretty much the only reason I had to want to watch). If The View does show a product like the ABC Scripture Cards than my respect will definitely go up for the show. Kudos to Elisabeth for being willing to spotlight a religious product on mainstream media. Congratulations on this wonderful opportunity Courtney! I’ll be watching on May 24!

      1. DaveAs with most things in life you have the good and the evil. The nematodes you mention sound as if they are root eating which are the evil guys. At the same time, a rich garden soil and high quality worm castings contain the good nematodes which are not root devouring. The worms will not eat the bad microbes but rather help to develop the good ones you want in your gaB.dnerruce

The cards are proudly displayed on the bookshelves that flank our fireplace – they are nestled in with our wedding photos and the photo of us holding Kensley for the VERY FIRST TIME … these cards are part of our lives, they touch us, they “remind us”, they move us. 10. FYI, I am crying. I am SO proud of you. A friend in Arkansas sent this link to me with one sentence, “don’t you know this girl?” (Because I told her about your cards a while back) and OMG, your pr veteran friend is so proud of you! – Deisha

  11. Oh.my.word. Courtney I am beyond thrilled for you and all “you” encompasses!! I have to tell you though, sweet friend, I am *convinced* that this favor you have is because of your heart to generously give a portion of your proceeds to feed street orphans. God’s favor rests on you. “The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.” Prov. 22:9 I am overjoyed!! Yippee Jesus!! xo

  12. Just found your page after seeing the piece on The View and wanted to take a closer look at your scripture cards. Hope you get a lot of traffic as a result of the show.

  13. I just found out about your cards from the View and have been searching your site since. My husband and I now live in OKC but we’re originally from Alpharetta and are Andy Stanley groupies! Your story is such an encouragement as I am planning to stay home with our little one who is due in August. I can’t wait to get our cards to display in our baby girl’s room. I hope many more moms find their way to your site.
