Great Blogs, Great Reads
Blessed By Brenna
Just recently learned of this precious Brenna and her amazing mom. She emailed me and said she was inspired by Kylie’s blog post on race – and is doing an entire MONTH about celebrating differences. It started this week! Head on over and be inspired about so many touching stories.
Life in Grace
I have been stalking Edie for quite some time. Gosh I love her house – duh. But I LOVE her boldness for God even more. She linked up with us yesterday and blew me away with this post. So much of what she said on parenting and discipline resonated deep in my heart. Enjoy.
The House of Hendrix
I was SO super excited when my in-laws randomly met Allie at Chick-fil-A and she reached out to me via email. Then, I found her blog. This humble cat failed to mention she has ONE INCREDIBLE BLOG herself. I love so many of her blog posts – I don’t even know where to start. The interrupt rule, the empathy role play, the girlfriend post – they are all so good. She’s in Orlando and I am for sure stalking her often for a coffee date.
The B-I-B-L-E
My sweet friend texted me last night that she is writing off blogs for a while and just soaking up God’s word and I applaud her. I think it’s awesome. I take no offense as a blogger person. Our heads DO get clouded with so many voices and it’s so important that we don’t get confused with what is the ultimate true voice. He is our one and only direction. Opinions and point of views are so good and helpful. However, He is the only voice that matters. He leads our steps. He guides us.
I read this morning in James about wisdom.
But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. James 3: 14-18
What are you reading that you love?
Thank you so much for sharing about our story!!
Two things I am really enjoying reading at the moment. I’m doing an online Bible Study (my first!) called What Happens When Women Say Yes to God and am really loving my mornings with God. The alarm goes off at 5:30am (after being woken at midnight for an 8 year old’s bad dream and at 3am and 5am for a 4 year old needing me to “cover him back up” with his blanket) and I can truly say “Good morning, God!” to get myself up in the dark and downstairs to my kitchen table where we are tackling through some serious pride issues. Its tough work, but I haven’t been in a Bible Study in forever and focusing on who God is and how I can lean into him more… that’s worth 100 times more than an extra hour of sleep.
The second thing I’m really enjoying reading is… my blog! Its not fancy. And for a while there I had quit writing. I couldn’t do it the way I thought it should be done so I quit. But more recently I started reading the old blog from the beginning and the joy I felt reading about little things and events with my little family… I missed documenting this so much! So I threw out the old blog attempts and self inflicted rules, put everything under a new blog that is not made to do anything but hold little moments. Moments with my boys, moments with my God, moments that, like Mary, I want to treasure up in my heart.
Thanks for having a very real blog full of encouragement for this Mom!
My friend Kourtney, who lives in Orlando, sent me the link to Allie’s girlfriend post.
I am SO excited that you guys have connected!!!!
