Imperfect Makeovers
What is it with before/after photos?
I just love a great makeover! MOVE THAT BUS!!!
Do you love makeover shows? Biggest Loser? Home Makeover?
My favorite transformation to watch is when Jesus Christ comes on a scene and fills up the human heart.
Most of that transformation is internal. Although, some of it happens externally. You can see people radiate when Jesus grips their life. You can see smiles when freedom is felt from years of feeling lost or hopeless. You can see steps of forgiveness. You can see bitterness falling away and less anger.
This one photo by the Nester’s barn on Facebook today had me thinking about the power of change. What God can do with us. He can do something like this.
You know’s what true about the best makeover?
Those perfect makeovers are only just perfect for a minute.
If I know the Nester – like I think I do (I mean, we are friends – so I think because I’ve read her blog for so long).. she’s going to use that barn. There will be cups, on those tables, friends with shoes on the floor, things spilled.
It won’t look so perfect. It’ll be an imperfect makeover.
When we ask Jesus into our life – it isn’t POOF perfection.
We still have bad days. We still have mess. We still yell.
My goal is always growing. I hope my internal and external looks a bit more like him each year. I pray he continues to transform me into his image every day. Every year.
Let’s keep being obsessed with makeovers. I like how change grabs our eyes and our hearts. I like how houses become homes. I like how God moves the heart of people and give us courage to grow.
Makeovers are so good. Just not perfect ones.
Keep growing.
Give him permission to transform your life.
Beautiful. Come, Lord Jesus. Come.
Thank you for this Courtney. I am especially encouraged by your lines “I hope my internal and external looks a bit more like him each year. I pray he continues to transform me into his image every day. Every year.” and “Keep growing.” I often struggle with becoming impatient and wanting to “arrive” at some state versus becoming more like Him every day. Thank you.
