I want you to meet my friends, the contributors of this blog. They are the real deal. I didn’t ask them to be on here because they have the biggest following or the biggest book deals – I asked them because they are the real deal. Enjoy meeting Amber today! – Courtney

What keeps you up at night?

Currently, I have a few things keeping me up at night. I have a 7-month-old. Nuff said there. I have a 3-year-old with a constant need to pee at 5 am. I have a 6-year-old with mosquito itches, wiggly teeth and bad dreams. I have a bum knee that is likely being operated on as you read this. (Pray for me?) And then there’s the big things like international news, aging grandparents and family who live far away.

What is God teaching you right now?

God is teaching me so many things through our current struggles. It’s hard to summarize. I’ve been drawn to him for wisdom and He has taught me that He says not just that He will give us wisdom but that we can find it in his word … and even more specifically, in Proverbs. He is teaching me to daily look to Him for peace through reading His word and praying moment by moment when I am overwhelmed. And just the otherer day, He taught me that though I am promised a harvest after a time of suffering, it may not be what I think is a “harvest” (i.e. a great house, dancing till I’m 90, etc) but that my harvest may be a closer bond with Jesus because of the secret kinship that suffering and perseverance can give us.

What are you dreaming about?

Living close to my family and friends who I miss so much.  Wanderlust runs through my veins, but the older my kids get the more I envision them having deep relationships with extended family that is hard to foster at such a distance. I also dream of living overseas again…meeting knew fascinating people, exploring more of this amazing world and its beautiful cultures. These types of polar dreams often turn me to the verse that says the Lord knows the desires of my heart. That reminder helps me to get excited about what’s ahead instead of anxious about the decisions.

What is something new you’d like to try? but something (fear, life) keeps you from going for it?

Singing again regularly…maybe in a restaurant. I did this in college and loved it. Music is such a part of who I am but it’s been pushed further and further to the side in this season.

What’s your favorite part of motherhood?

I can’t get enough of snuggling my kids. smelling their heads. Holding them close and hearing their sweet dreams and funny thoughts.

What part of motherhood was harder than you thought?

Babies. Until they can tell me what hurts, I am an anxious mess.

What can you say with clarity you were meant to do/be?

Married to Sam. He is and always will be the clearest indication of God’s presence and lavish blessing in my life.
