Welcome ladies of #SheSpeaks14!

If you did NOT go to She Speaks, you are invited too!

Use this time to get to know these other ladies and help them build their platform. Give them a comment, tweet something you like, like their Facebook page. Each of these writers are working on projects very close to their hearts. Thanks for your help!

What is the purpose of this link up?

1) To share our She Speaks learnings.

It’s been one month. How quickly time files after an inspirational weekend with Lysa TerKeurst and the Proverbs 31 crew. You leave FIRED up with notebooks filled with all the things you are READY to accomplish when you step foot back in your world.

Then, SMACK! ….you get smacked in the face with a waffle or step on wet cheerios .. basically smacked with reality. It’s OK, those inspiriting things you learned haven’t expired, dust them off.

One month later is probably the perfect time to re-inspire you. Use the link-up below as a chance to simply WRITE about your experience at She Speaks. It can be about what you learned, one a-ha moment, a favorite breakout – anything you want to share!

Isn’t it neat that 800 women hear the same messages and we all walk away with our own a-ha moments? God is big like that – and he thinks small. He knows us very intimately.

2) To build your platform.

This She Speaks group is a community designed to build each other up. You know what it’s like to share something and get NO COMMENTS. You know what it’s like to follow a calling on your life and then doubt it the next day. Let’s help one another! If time permits, visit these blog posts, go “like” Facebook sites that interest you and follow each other on Twitter. Make some new friends and encourage as many as you are able. Affirm their words. Connect with each other.

My big She Speaks takeaway.

I certainly had pages of notes from Lysa (does she EVER disappoint?) and the same from Renee, Glynnis and Karen. I could just camp out in the Proverbs 31 office.

However, I needed every WORD of Christine Caine’s message. As a former marketing girl about to release her first book – I needed her straight-shooting pep talk. She rocked the room to tears – reminding some very driven women that it all comes back to making one person famous. I know these truths in my heart. I write and encourage some of the same words, but often my actions reflect the opposite.

I needed to hear every bit of her talk.. that night, that way.

My soul was pounding – partly from convictions, understanding where I could trust more and stop controlling and forcing so much. And partly pounding with pure JOY because she was preaching the very desires of my heart. I wanted to stand on the table and scream YESSSSS!!! It was everything I wanted to say to you guys in my platform talk. Yes, there are things to do, tricks of the trade. But start here!

My favorite Christine Caine points.

I’ll never do it justice. Her Australian accent. Her story. Her style. It’s just amazing. You can hear a bit of her at Passion on Jodie’s blog here.

  • Light upon you will destroy you if your character doesn’t sustain you
  • Calling vs Career
  • Time before it’s a testimony (she said, “you want my mic? the stage? well then you have to do my life for 20 years – abuse, neglect, hard years… “)
  • Get in the DARK ROOM – you are becoming like me (meaning spend time with him – because WHEN the light shines – you better be ready, prepared, like Him – or you won’t last)
  • Shooting Stars vs Lighthouses
  • Time between a person’s anointing and the appointing – 20 years! 20 chapters! We want it so instantly.
  • You out of you. Me in you.
  • We want a TESTimony without a TEST
  • Get your FACE in THE BOOK, and FACE off FACEBOOK!
  • Do you trust God? Trust will take your further than any gift!
  • If it’s in my heart – it’ll come out of my mouth,  pen, etc.
  • Jesus has my heart – you get the overflow.
  • You can’t fill up with God when you are filled up with anxiety.

And, the room basically collectively sobbed. My friend Stacey (read her blog if you want to cry with laughter) lost a nail she was crying so hard. Then, we laughed so hard, we cried. I think Lysa and her team thought we were drunk. We weren’t. Just Christine Caine giddy. The rock… was borrowed from the prayer room.

YOUR TURN.

If you have already written your post, just simply link your SHE SPEAKS blog post below (use the specific blog post vs just your blog url). You want people to get right to that blog post – if they come back in a few days – not to a recipe and get confused.

If you haven’t written it yet, it’s not too late! I’ll have this up for the next week – link up anytime. The sooner the better!

  1. Thank you for this! I’m so excited to read everyone’s posts! I think mine definitely reflects the crazy time I’ve been going through. The past 15 months have been the most difficult of my life and I’ve experienced one great heart-ache after another. She Speaks was something I so desperately needed. I loved how Christine Caine’s message convicted me and encouraged me simultaneously. A month later I’m still mentally working through everything I learned at She Speaks! For sure it prepared me for this crazy week I’m having with my blog (crazy in the extremely good, mind-blowing kind of way). I HAVE to go next year!

  2. I went to She Speaks, but have yet to write a post about it. I am actually in the picture you have posted of Christine Caine, I am sitting directly behind her in the black tank top.. Can’t wait for next year!

  3. Hi Courtney, thanks so much for hosting this link-up. The Christine Caine was a big highlight for me too. What a message! I’m so glad that I’m finding ways to connect with some of the other attendees and stay motivated to share the message the Lord has placed within each of us.

  4. Thanks for the link up! It was a BIG encouragement for me to sit down and actual WRITE this morning. I needed that amidst all the chaos that has ensued in my life since coming home. Thanks also for the great workshops!!

  7. I’m not a writer but I’m a reader and I love your blog. That last part about your friend had me in tears from laughing so hard. It made me think of my precious friends and the moments we’ve had. 🙂 so glad you got some inspiration, tears and laugher at this conference!

  8. There are sooo many things I learned at She Speaks. What does a Christian speaker/writer look like? What is the goal of doing it? (should be obvious, but Christine Caine really put some perspective on it)! What is my mission? and above all I’m I in His will? My heart was so full when I left, but not just because I felt Jesus answered these questions for me …but because of all the sisters in Christ I met!! To know I am not alone in my aspirations to honor Him was priceless. There was excitement by the minute – meeting with a publisher, seeing and meeting all the speakers, making new friends –but the most exciting time for me was during our time(s) of worship. To be in a room filled with women praising their God – totally overwhelming! My heart was so full. I am so excited to have found this ‘well’ of inspiration that I can return to every year to be refreshed and uplifted. Thanks Courtney for bringing us back together a month later. It inspires me all over again!! Blessings!

  9. Courtney I want to thank you for making this link up available for everyone. It has been amazing to read through everyone’s post on their experience at She Speaks. Everyone’s story fans the flame of my passion, which was ignited there at this amazing conference.

AND SO MANY MORE THE INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE PROVIDED WAS INVALUABLE. I AM SO GRATEFUL TRAIL BLAZERS IN THE WORLD OF SPEAKING AND WRITING ARE WILLING TO SHARE THEIR INSIGHT AND EMPOWER WOMEN TO PURSUE THEIR PURPOSE. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY AND LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING TIME WITH PROVERBS AGAIN SOON. IT BLESSED MY LIFE. PROVERBS 31:25
